A global spell check feature, in every editable text box within Ubuntu if a spelling error is detected a wavy red line is indicated under the offending word. The user can then right click on the word to see suggestions or add it to the global dictionary. A control panel applet would enable or disable this functionality and also provide the user with the ability to add, remove, edit custom dictionary entries. Maybe also allow auto correct for certain commonly mis-spelled words. See spell checking functionality in Firefox for an example. Having a single global dictionary throughout the system would bring a consistent experience across the entire system.
