This development would create an interface to a sales & Use tax calc engine

This development would create the necessary logic to interface to a sales & use calculation service. This interface would enable quick and efficient calculation of sales & use tax across the 14,700 unique US tax jurisdictions. This would include address validation - which is a requirement for effective tax jurisdiction assignment. When a tax calculation is requested in OpenERP in the quotation, sales, invoice, and credit memo process, OpenERP would call the tax service via SOAP and pass the necessary information for the tax calculation system to determine the taxability of each line in the order/invoice/memo. The system will then return a response with the tax calculated appropriately. The online system will then store the taxable amount on final invoices - which are retained for submission monthly to the appropriate taxing authorities by the company.
