Registered by Nicolò Chieffo

Currently the Ubuntu main repository doesn't have a DVB software to watch TV. Let's bring totem to this!

Whiteboard

the best thing might be a gstreamer backend, since now gstreamer is the default in ubuntu.
It is really needed a software that does not need the channels.conf file

Kaffeine can scan and play from DVB cards, though it is a good example to follow, unfortunately it is a KDE app.
gxine and totem-xine cannot scan (at least when I looked at them).

Me TV 0.7.9:
* Scan (Done)
* Play (Done)
* EPG (Done)
* Teletext (Is this really required, anyone?)
* Record (Done)
* Subtitles (Done)
* Audio select (Done)

Also other features which are nice,
* Scheduled recordings
* Network broadcast
* Preferred language
